Brad McDonald, of Potosi, died Saturday, May 17, 2008
due to injuries from an automobile accident. He was 37.
Funeral services, with Rev. Garland Wallace officiating,
will be at 10:00 am today, Tuesday, May 20, at the First
Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow in the
Buffalo Gap Cemetery. Services are under the direction
of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Brad was born August 11, 1970 in Abilene, Texas to
Dennis and Charolett (Bilbrey) McDonald. He attended
Wylie High School through his sophomore year. He
transferred to Jim Ned High School, where he graduated
in 1988. He has lived in southern Taylor County all of
his life. Brad attended the First Church of the
Nazarene.
December 18, 2004, Brad married Melinda Hendrix in
Buffalo Gap. He loved hunting and NASCAR. Brad lived his
life for his friends and family. He never met a stranger
and was always willing to lend a helping hand. His
favorite color was camouflage. In 1995, Brad began
working for what is now A.E.P., formerly W.T.U., in
southern Taylor County, and worked his way up to
Material Services. Brad was proudest when he was
watching his little girl play ball and teaching her to
shoot. He was on the Outlaw Cooking Team and was very
comfortable behind a Barbeque pit. He couldn't sing, but
he loved to dance. Brad was the youngest President of
the Buffalo Gap Old Settlers Reunion. His goal in life
was to one day become the Mayor of Buffalo Gap.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother
Gladys "Mamaw" Bilbrey and his paternal grandfather,
Charlie B. "PaPa" McDonald. Brad is survived by his
wife, Melinda Cook McDonald, of Potosi; his parents,
Dennis and Charolett McDonald, of Clyde; his daughter,
Haley McDonald, of Tuscola; two step-daughters, Kristen
Sloan and her husband Chris of Haslet, and Hailey Cook
and her fianc? Tyler Travis, of Clyde; one sister, Mindy
Broadfoot and her husband Terry, of Clyde; his maternal
grandfather, W.C. Bilbrey; his paternal grandmother,
Loella McDonald; one niece, two nephews, several aunts,
uncles, and cousins. Brad was a young PePa to three
grandchildren, Cameron and Conner Sloan and Kiley
Travis.
Tommy Glenn Hollowell, Justin Holdridge, Robert O'Dell,
Jason Patterson, Mark Childers, Skylor Adkisson, John
Barbee and Aaron Hendrix will serve as pallbearers.
Memorials may be made in honor of Brad McDonald to the
First Church of the Nazarene Building Fund; the Buffalo
Gap Volunteer Fire Department, or to Hendrick Home for
Children. |
